GilletteNation's 3 Day Camp Winners: Skill on Offense Shines

Football is back baby! Well, at least 1/3 of the way back, as we finally watched fans shuffle into Foxboro to catch a glimpse of the 2021 Patriots. The public Training Camp practices, always a hit with the faithful, gained big crowds the first two days and we certainly get more traction when the weather gets nicer. That being said, the product on the field is slowly taking shape and the team is working their way to the 53 man roster. After having a front row seat to the first two practice sessions, I will share some of the players that have stood out to me thus far on offense.

QBs Cam Newton and Brian Hoyer

The quarterback position struggled a lot in Newton's Patriots debut season, but him and veteran Brian Hoyer have gotten out to fantastic starts to camp. Mac Jones would be here, but struggled on Thursday, going 4/11 with a sack in 11-on-11 team drills. Cam has brought an electric attitude to camp, getting the largest cheers of any Patriot so far. Hoyer only had 2 of his passes today fall incomplete and can see himself getting a lot more opportunities with Jarrett Stidham possibly needing shoulder surgery.

WRs Kristian Wilkerson and Nelson Agholor

Wilkerson has been the most surprising highlight of this offense so far. After participating in Pats West during the offseason, he looks faster and has spent most of his time so far repping with the first and second teams. As for Nelson Agholor, he is the best WR so far. He hasn't dropped a ball (that I have seen) and he is certainly the fastest in every receiver drill. I hope Wilkerson can continue his outstanding camp and push for a roster spot as we head towards preseason football.

TE Troy Fumagalli

An acquistion that went under the radar, Troy has served nicely as the team's 3rd TE after Devin Asiasi's bout with COVID-19. He was targeted the 2nd most amount of times on Thursday, catching every pass that came his way and scoring a whopping FIVE touchdowns. He can find a way to make the roster or at least the practice squad if he can perform better than Asiasi and 2nd year Dalton Keene.

Sure, defense wins championships, but this offense is looking sharp as a knife after 3 full days of Training Camp.
